Can you feel it in the air?

Better yet, smell it?!

The Minnesota State Fair is right around the corner, which means anything stuck on a stick, dipped in batter and deep fried is so close I can taste it. There’s nothing better than walking around on a nice August day with a deep fried candy bar in one hand and the newest, must have “food on a stick” in the other… Right?

But with all this deliciousness comes some responsibility!  A dangerous nibble here, a cheese curd there, a few sips of a malt, it all adds up!  Just because it’s the weekend doesn’t mean you get to slack off of your healthy boot camp lifestyle.  My recommendation, come to boot camp in the morning and then choose one thing you really want to eat at the fair.  Better yet, find a friend to share and you can get a little more variety.  Just remember, it is NOT okay to eat like that everyday!

Enjoy once and in small quantities, mild to obscene quantities of deep fried spells disaster for any nutrition plan no matter how moderated the intake. Loads of calories smothered with grease, starches, and carbs may be delicious, but be wary. They can easily leave a trail of flaming wreckage through any well crafted nutrition and exercise plan.

Sure they taste good, especially since our body’s inherent sense of survival is hard wired to love that fatty grease. The Fair’s a great excuse to throw all that hard work in the gym out the window. Don’t let it happen to you! Be smart, enjoy in tiny amounts, but then move on quickly.
