You all know that exercise is good for you and that it’s something you should partake in daily. But maybe exercise isn’t for everyone. Below is a list of five reasons you shouldn’t exercise. If any of these sound familiar you should maybe re-evaluate your exercise routine and consider spending that extra monthly money on more comfortable pairs of sweatpants (with elastic, you don’t want to have to buy new ones when that waist line starts giving off more of a santa-clause feel.)
1. You find your beer belly extremely attractive. When you look in that mirror and see that extra fat hanging out down there you can’t help but compliment yourself on how good it looks. You, my friend, are some delicious eye candy.
2. You despise smiling and hate the sound of laughter. Everyone knows that exercise releases endorphins which, in turn, make you feel better about work, yourself, your day, and everything else going on around you. But who wants that? Misery loves company, I suggest watching reruns of crappy soap operas.
3. You thoroughly enjoy your lack of sleep. Watching the seconds tick away on your alarm clock is your nightly ritual and you look forward to it throughout the day. Yes you enjoy sleep but you’d much rather toss and turn for a few hours and then fall asleep than wake up feeling refreshed and ready to start the day. Think about the last time you spent a good portion of your day doing hard manual labor (such as…moving…) You probably slept like a rock that night. As long as your exercise isn’t right before you climb into bed it has been proven that daily exercise helps you to sleep better.
4. Living to an old age does not appeal to you. Studies have shown that exercising regularly will help you to lead a longer and healthier life. No kidding right? Then again the longer you live the more you get into retirement, relaxing, being a grandparent, Who wants to live through that?
5. You have no aspirations or goals. Not only does working out make you healthier and happier, it makes you more productive. On top of getting more accomplished in your daily life, you are now doing higher quantities of higher quality work. Next up, promotion. Then again, it is easier to just do the minimum and stay at the bottom of the hierarchy. Who doesn’t want to sort and deliver mail to the people who accomplish things?
Let’s review. Exercise helps you look better, feel better, sleep better, live longer and accomplish more. Exercise does NOT help you with the following: gaining weight, being a downer, being an insomniac, death and being an unreliable loser. See you at the gym.
